Building the economic case for FETP investment

In 2025, FEiA partnered with the University of Newcastle's Newcastle Business School — alongside the World Bank, SAFETYNET and India's National Centre for Disease Control — to develop a business case for scaling field epidemiology training programs across India. A key output is the STEPS tool, an economic modelling tool developed by Newcastle Business School that estimates the cost of delivering an FETP at different training levels and models the potential cost savings of different implementation configurations.
